Wynette was born near the small town of Tremont, Miss., where she began her transformation from local hairdresser to Nashville’s “First Lady of Country Music.” Her home county is planning a memorial park in Tremont as part of the Mississippi Country Music Trail, which recently added a historical marker telling Wynette’s story.Read More

It may have been the goal of clearing her parents' name that made Georgette Jones decide to write a book about her family life with country stars, she said, but that in the long run it became a way of becoming closer to her family.
